The ACT is a national college admissions examination that consists of subject area tests in: English, Mathematics, Reading, and Science. ACT results are accepted by all four-year colleges and universities in the US. The ACT includes 215 multiple-choice questions and takes approximately 3 hours and 30 minutes to complete, including a short break (or just over four hours if you are taking the ACT Plus Writing). Actual testing time is 2 hours and 55 minutes (plus 30 minutes if you are taking the ACT Plus Writing). |

Most scores are available for online viewing within 2 weeks after each national or international test date. Your scores are not reported any faster if you view them online. Score reports are normally released within 3 to 8 weeks after each test date. If you took the Writing Test, your score reports will be released only after all your scores are available, including Writing, within 5 to 8 weeks after the test date.

The PSAT/NMSQT administration serves as the National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (NMSQT) for 11th grade students, and is administered in October.
All 9th and 10th grade students will now be taking the PSAT 9 and 10th grade students will take the PSAT 10 in April. The assessments will provide an opportunity to practice taking the SAT 11th grade year and will also provide student with information on their skills and college readiness. |

When's the best time to take the test?
The SAT and other College Board tests are offered several times a year. Most students take the SAT for the first time during the spring of their junior year and a second time during the fall of their senior year. All juniors will take the SAT as part of the Michigan Merit Exam in April of their Junior year of high school. You will only need to register to take the SAT if you are planning to take the SAT early or to retake the SAT. |
