Rosa Parks Scholarship Foundation
rosaparksscholarshipfoundation.org/
The Rosa Parks Scholarship Foundation offers a $2,000, non-renewable scholarship to Michigan high school graduating seniors. Winners are selected on the basis of scholarship, leadership, financial need, and dedication to the civil rights principles of Rosa L. Parks, whose historic stand against racial prejudice in 1955 brought her national recognition. The Foundation was established in 1980 to provide equal-opportunity scholarships to Michigan high school seniors.
Scholarships to be applied to tuition, books and/or fees, for first year of college only (cannot be applied to room/board or other expenses).
A key determining factor in judging is ‘financial need.’ Students with numerous other scholarships (especially full-tuition scholarships) will receive a very low rating for ‘financial need,’ virtually eliminating them from contention for this scholarship. Because of this, these students may choose not to complete the Rosa Parks Scholarship Foundation application process.
APPLICANTS MUST:
1. Graduate by August 2018.*
2. Have GPA of 2.5 or above.
3. Describe financial need.
4. Complete application form and essay.**
5. Document community activities.
6. Furnish official copies of high school transcript and ACT or SAT results.
8. Furnish two letters of recommendation (at least one from a school representative; also suggest clergy,
community and/or civic representative).
* Applicants must be graduating from high school in spring of 2018, with plans to enter college as a full time freshman in the fall. You are not eligible for this scholarship at this time if you are participating in an Early College Program (13th year of high school). You must wait until you actually graduate from high school.**Essay question is last item on application. If you want to get a head start, here is the essay requirement.
Please write an essay of 200-300 words (include a heading/topic). Segregation was the defining social issue when Rosa Parks took her historic stand. Describe a social issue that you think should be addressed today. How will YOU use the principles of Rosa Parks to address it?
ALL REQUIREMENTS MUST BE MET, OR APPLICATION WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED

Hillsdale College
Website:http://www.hillsdale.edu/aid/scholarships
How to ApplyThose students wishing to apply for a Hillsdale scholarship based on outstanding achievement and satisfactory citizenship need only complete an application for admission.
Any student accepted for admission is automatically considered for an award at the appropriate date by the Scholarship Selection Committee.
Due to the competitive nature of the awards, not everyone who qualifies can receive an award.
Application Deadline
Applications for admission must be postmarked by the dates noted on the published Application Plans.
How Merit Awards are Decided
Academic Merit Awards are based on the overall strength of the student’s application and not awarded solely on the basis of grades and test scores.
Preference is given to students who present outstanding academic credentials, a superior record of leadership, substantial volunteerism, work experience and extracurricular involvement, and a demonstrable desire to learn in a rigorous, challenging, honorable academic environment.
Merit awards range from $1,000 to half tuition with a few three-quarter to full-tuition awards given each year. An interview with an Admissions representative is strongly recommended.
Scholarships are awarded to incoming students and are renewable for four years provided the specified academic performance is maintained.
Applicants are encouraged, without jeopardizing the merit award, to file the Hillsdale College Confidential Family Financial Statement to qualify for additional financial aid based on need. Our comprehensive Financial Aid Program also includes athletic and fine arts scholarships.
Admission and financial aid are granted without regard to race, color, religion, sex, or national or ethnic origin.

Boston University’s most prestigious merit-based award recognizes students who show outstanding academic and leadership abilities. Many of our current Scholars had perfect 4.0 grade point averages in high school and typically ranked in the top 5–10% of their class. In addition to exceptional academic credentials, Trustee Scholars are intellectually and creatively adventurous and demonstrate viewpoints, experiences or achievements beyond the usual. They are, in other words, not just top students, but extraordinary people. At BU, scholars also become part of a unique campus community that offers many intellectual, cultural, and social opportunities.
While the competition is especially rigorous, the benefits are considerable. A Trustee Scholarship covers full undergraduate tuition plus the University orientation and mandatory undergraduate student fees and is renewable for four years if certain criteria are met.
